Summer sun brings tans, events(listed at the end) and ARC signups!
Adapting - change is annoying
Deadlines are optional, right? Just like rules…No wonder I drove my mother crazy growing up (don’t worry; she still loves me and is one of my biggest supporters). While working on Shattered Are the Fallen, I had self-imposed deadlines that I targeted and pushed myself to stick to. In the end, I decided to give myself grace and reached out to my Beta’s and Editors, all of whom were gracious enough to extend the deadlines. What a relief! The weight lifted off my shoulders allowed me to work and not feel stressed while doing it.
Adapting might be hard sometimes, but it is always worth it. On a different note, don’t forget to do something new/hard today!
Celebrating - ARCs and Free books
Shattered is nearly in with my editor, which means the ball is in motion! I am not entirely sure of the publication date, but December 2025 is the target (with a slight chance of January). The ultimate release date depends on the editing process and whether or not any monsters jump out of the closet.
All of this means that it’s time for ARC signups, which come with an extra surprise: free books!
On June 20, Fractured will be free and Broken will be discounted. It’s a great time to catch up, get your hands on an eBook, and find a bunch of new romance reads of all genres.
Here is a link to the event!
Here is the ARC sign up form for Shattered!
If you haven’t read Fractured and Broken yet, the above event is a great way to get your hands on both books! Both are in KU as well.
Overcoming - is it enough?
Imposter syndrome! It really can be awful and show up at the worst times. My advice is to tell it to F off. When that doesn’t work, lean on those around you who can boost you back up. I wish I could remember where I saw it, but I want to share the most amazing concept with you all. When you're feeling down, reach out to your friends and borrow their beliefs! Life can be hard for a lot of reasons. When you struggle to believe in yourself, borrow a friend’s belief in you. I borrow mine all the time (thank you for that, loves!)
Give it a try! Gratitude lists also help me through impostor syndrome, as cliche as that might sound. While they can’t always hit the direct source of the imposter syndrome, they can create a positive mental shift.
Nothing is more annoying when self-help and therapy are right. I know, trust me!
Taking a breather
Take a step back and read. Or write. Or do nothing. Do whatever you need to do that will help you take a breath or recalibrate. I vacillate between binge reading, binging anime, or watching movies. Lately, it’s been reading.
I’ve read more books this year than over the last two years combined. I have no idea how or why; it just happened that way. I am including Beta reads, but most of my reading has covered Fantasy Fairy Tale retellings or Fantasy Rom-Coms (seriously, who knew this was a thing?? Did you? They're amazing). My reading goals for the summer are actually pretty small – I’m not sure how much I’ll get through. I'm hoping to read some new-to-me indie authors.
Behind the scenes
Soccer season is over and we ended it with a tournament! It was my daughter’s last year on the travel team before heading off to high school. Excuse me while I take a moment of silence – a freaking high schooler! How is that even possible?
I digress. Summer is here and I’ll be working on books four and five, writing the endings first as has become my custom. I will likely plot out other series along the way and head to the beach for further inspiration.
I hope you're all as excited about the summer as I am!
